Antique American Tiger Oak Dresser with Bevelled Mirror c.1900/1915
Beautiful and very substantial early 20th-century American tiger/quarter-sawn oak dresser with large bevelled mirror, dating approximately c.1900–1915.
A really striking antique piece with exceptional figured “tiger” oak grain across the top and drawer fronts, elegant legs with carved claw feet, ornate period-style brass drawer fittings and a large framed bevelled mirror.
Traditional construction throughout, including dovetailed timber drawers and wooden drawer runners. The mirror section is detachable from the main chest for transport.
The dresser was originally purchased in America and brought to Ireland.
Dimensions:
Width: 123 cm
Depth: 62 cm
Height of dresser without mirror: 92 cm
Overall height with mirror: 165 cm
Condition:
Sold in unrestored antique condition with age-related wear and marks.
The carved wooden mirror supports/wings were damaged during transit from America and require repair/refitting. Both original support pieces are present and the mirror itself is intact.
One drawer handle is missing and another is damaged. No key is present for the drawer locks. Please see photographs for full condition.
Despite these issues, it is a beautiful and very usable piece as it stands, particularly as the dresser/chest can also be used without the mirror. It would also make a lovely restoration project.
Please note: the main dresser is extremely heavy and will require two people to move. The mirror detaches but has still quite some weight.
Collection only in Co. Mayo.
