Hi , yes this is brand new, I will post better photos as I see what you mean, I think what you are seeing on the photos are smudges on the metal surface as the surfaces are shiny by design. This strap was purchased by my wife for a whoop that she tried out but didn't keep, the strap was worn for a day and is in as new condition. Best regards, Phil
