Body Monochord - Sound Healing

This is a custom made body monochord which was created by a special luthier called Joel Olivé (Soundtrance) in Spain who I also studied sound medicine with for several years.

I say this as it was made with incredible attention and precision to be used as a sound healing instrument.

It's a 37 string instrument which is tuned to D and A in various octaves.

The woods are spruce and cedar I believe as the main body and then if I remember rightly walnut for some of the additional features.

It was created to be placed on the body from below the neck to the hips and played on the body of a person so they can receive the felt vibration of the sound.

The beads are for precision tuning and there's a tuning key for additional tuning.

The lower surface if contoured to be comfortable and shape the body.

As a standalone instrument this is a powerful and resonant vessel, with it filling a room easily.

I've used it both on individual work being on the body and also as for group sound healing in large rooms and it has medicine in both these ways.

I have had the instrument for over 2 years and have loved it, it was the first instrument that led me towards an immersion into sound medicine and I'm only considering allowing this to move on as I'm not using it and this is a piece of art that is meant to be played and will offer many more people medicine.

I've kept the instrument really well by treating is as precious as it is, as it's very sensitive to changes in temp and humidity.

I would say that the strings may need to be replaced soonish but that's personal preference and also dependant on strings not breaking during the tuning process.

This is a one of a kind instrument and I will only allow it move onto someone who would really take care of it and who will honour it.

I can send sound samples to people who are really interested, it won't capture all the magic but it will give you a sense of it.
