Gold vintage hair fork with purple stones

Personally owned by my mother in law
I believe (she used it ) it as vintage decorative hair fork (specifically a chignon or side-hair pin)
Eg when a woman has her hair in a bun or a French twist, the long prongs are pushed deep into the hair to anchor the piece. The "step" allows the jeweled portion to jump over the edge of the hair roll so it can lie flush and flat against the head.
It's light weight and unmarked so likely costume piece
Not real gold
Purple stones untested- likely glass
Please see photos for condition overall it's in excellent condition- no signs of wear to gold colour but 2 missing stones
