Small Liberty of London table top c.1905 Small Liberty of London table top c.1905 Other Furniture

This is a delightful early 20th century Japanese solid carved fruit wood table top in Art Nouveau style which retailed by Liberty's of London, circa 1905.
The circular shaped table tops were superbly carved with a bold design of sunflowers. A lovely example of the arts and crafts period from Liberty London.
This decorative table top would make a useful side, occasional or lamp table if finished. They were intended as plant stands. Or, simply as a beautiful wall hanging. 31 d. cm x 3 cm h
These tables were carved by Japanese fishermen to meet the demand in the West for Japanese art and design at the turn of the 20th century. They were imported flat-packed to Great Britain, assembled and retailed by Liberty & Co in their London store. On the underside of the table top is marked in ink the number 281 which was used to assist in the assembly.
Steeped in the history of the era. Beautiful conversation piece and a unique interior decorative item or prop!
