Large Antique Solid Wood Document Box with Monogram

Large antique solid wood document or deed box, believed to date from the late Victorian or Edwardian period.
A substantial, well-made piece with a hinged lid, metal carrying handle, original lock and decorative monogram to the top. The box measures approximately 58 × 53 cm and offers excellent storage for documents, artwork, photographs, collections or other treasured items.
The key is missing, although the box opens normally. It has numerous scratches, marks and general wear from age and use, particularly underneath, but these add to its authentic character. A lovely restoration project, or it could be used exactly as it is to bring genuine old-world charm to a traditional interior.
