Early 19th Century Regency Mahogany Cylinder Bureau.
Beautiful early 19th century Regency mahogany cylinder bureau dating to circa 1810–1820 with the desirable retailers stamp “H. MAWER & STEPHENSON – LONDON”.
A superbly proportioned piece with a finely figured mahogany case, elegant cylindrical tambour front and attractive contrasting line inlay.
The tambour rolls smoothly upwards to reveal a fully fitted writing interior comprising multiple small drawers, pigeonholes and storage compartments, together with a generous pull out writing surface with green baize inset.
The interior also retains two original style glass ink bottles with decorative silver coloured mounts housed in a fitted recess to the right.
The exterior features two long frieze drawers with beautifully figured and line inlaid fronts. Original brass handles and escutcheons, elegant tapering legs and brass mounted castors.
Very good condition and structurally sound for its age with minor marks and wear consistent with approximately 200 years of use.
