Authentic Victorian James Shoolbred Nursing Chair (Stamped & Plaqued)
Beautiful, authentic Late-Victorian nursing/salon chair manufactured by the highly prestigious English furniture makers James Shoolbred & Co. (London), dating to circa 1880–1890. This piece is a collector's item with excellent provenance indicators. It retains its original oval brass maker's plaque on the underside reading "James Shoolbred & Co, Tottenham House, London", along with the authentic serial design number (5052) stamped cleanly into the wooden leg.
Design:
Features classic Victorian turned timber front legs and swept rear legs. Low-profile silhouette characteristic of high-end late 19th-century nursing chairs.
Condition:
Structurally excellent and very solid. The wood boasts a lovely aged patina.
Upholstery:
It has been previously reupholstered in a plush purple velvet fabric with central patterned woven tapestry bands. It is fully functional and ready to go as a bedroom statement chair or fireside accent piece.
