A solid oak book trough from the Art Deco period, with a distinctive boat-shaped profile: two sloped glass panels form the sides of the trough, held at each end by solid oak triangular supports and running along a central oak spine.

The oak has a warm, honey-brown colour with attractive grain, and each end is finished with a neat reeded (fluted) detail where the wood spine meets the triangular end supports, a typical Art Deco feature. The base is a solid oak plank with brass fixings to the underside.

The glass side panels have light surface scratches from age and use but no chips or cracks. Please note the glass has rounded corners and appears to be safety glass, so it is likely a later replacement rather than the original glazing.

Dimensions:
• Interior length (book-holding length): 30cm
• Height to top of glass: 12cm

Condition: Good vintage condition, with wear consistent with age to the oak (light marks/patina) and light scratching to the glass panels as noted above. No structural damage, no chips or cracks to the glass. Please study all photos as they form part of the description.

Please note: the books shown in the photos are for scale and styling only and are not included in the sale.

Postage €20 to include careful packing.
