Antique tobacco and pipe cabinet
An antique tobacco and pipe cabinet (also known as a smoker's cabinet or humidor), most likely dating from the Victorian or Edwardian period (late 19th and early 20th centuries). This compact cabinet was used by gentlemen to store their smoking accessories.
Upper compartment under the lid: This was typically used to hold a supply of tobacco (often containing a ceramic or stoneware jar) or cigars.
Handles on the inside of the door: These distinctive, wavy-shaped metal bars are traditional pipe racks (the pipes were hung upside down).
Drawer and lower recess: Designed for accessories such as matches, cigar cutters, tampers, and spare tobacco accessories.
