Antique Oak Maples Cutlery Canteen

Genuine early 20th-century (Edwardian) solid oak flatware canteen box by premier London cabinetmakers Maple & Co. Ltd.

This is a substantial, heavy 12-place setting chest featuring classic brass drop carrying handles, a keyhole drop plate, and an inlaid brass blank cartouche on the lid.

Details:
Maker: Maple & Co. Ltd., London (original maker's plaque attached).
Material: Dark quarter-sawn Oak with original brass hardware.
Interior: Two-tier layout with removable top tray, lined in original brown baize/felt with ivorine compartment labels (Table Knives, Cheese Knives, Dessert Forks, Table Spoons, etc.).

Condition: Solid structural frame and clean interior. Requires minor cosmetic wood restoration—there is a small missing section of oak trim/moulding on the back-left top corner (see photos). Key is missing. Ideal candidate for a simple wood patch project or conversion into a custom watch/jewelry valet chest.
