"Egg" Mains Power Strip
The "egg" in the image refers to the energyEGG system, which is a smart energy-saving device designed to automatically switch off electrical appliances when a room is unoccupied.
How it Works
Components: The system typically consists of a motion detection sensor (the actual "egg" unit, which is not pictured) and a special mains power strip or adapter, as shown in the image.
Detection: The sensor detects movement in a room. When no movement is detected for a user-set period (up to 30 minutes), it assumes the room is empty.
Automatic Shut-off: The sensor wirelessly sends a command to the power strip/adapter, cutting power to connected devices.
"Always On" Sockets: The power strip in the image has specific outlets that remain permanently on, suitable for devices like broadband routers or set-top boxes that need continuous power.
Reactivation: When motion is detected again, the power to the controlled sockets is restored.
