The Casio SF-4700L Digital Diary (64 KB) is a portable electronic personal organizer from the 1990s. It was essentially an early electronic version of a diary, address book and calendar, long before modern smartphones.

Main functions

* Telephone Directory – stores names, phone numbers and other contact information.
* Calendar – displays dates and allows you to manage calendar entries.
* Schedule – stores appointments and scheduled events.
* Reminder – allows you to set reminders for important events.
* Memo – stores notes and short pieces of text.
* Calculator – built-in calculator.
* World Time – shows the time in different cities/time zones.
* Secret – protects private information with a password.
* Search – searches information stored in the diary.
* Backlight Display – illuminates the LCD screen for use in low light.

Memory

It has 64 KB of memory, which was quite useful for text-based information at the time. It does not store photos, music or modern apps.

Display and operation

It has a monochrome LCD display and a physical keyboard. The inside of the cover contains a quick-reference guide showing the main functions and button combinations.

In simple terms

The SF-4700L was designed to replace several things you might otherwise carry:

address book + calendar + diary + reminder + calculator + notes + world clock.

It is a classic example of an early electronic personal digital assistant (PDA)
