'The Dry Fly and Fast Water: Fishing with the Floating Fly on American Trout Streams, Together with Some Observations on Fly Fishing in General' by George M.L. La Branche. First edition hardcover published in 1914, 218 pages.
Ex-library copy from the Philadelphia Mercantile Library with impressed stamps to covers, internal stamps, pocket, etc. as shown in the photos. In overall fair condition with quite a lot of wear and light staining to the boards, splitting to the top right of the spine, opening to the binding both front and back, plus some yellowing and tanning throughout. No loose pages, one small tear to the corner of one page as shown. No loss of any text, largely clean internally.
A very scarce first edition of this classic work on fly fishing, produced at a time when brown trout numbers were steadily rising in America, the species having first been introduced in the 1880s. Still considered a key text on the subject of trout angling over a century later.
