A book of religious, spiritual and abolitionist poetry with two engravings, the first of Elizabeth Fry coming to visit a distressed woman in prison and the second of a black slave with his chained hands clasped. Preface written by Elizabeth Fry the English prison reformer, social reformer, philanthropist and Quaker.
Condition: Good overall - embossed boards with gilt titles and decoration show a small amount of wear - 1856 presentation label on inner cover - foxing to both engravings and 1 tissue guard missing - text block firm - pages have minor handling marks - pages age toned - publishers adverts at the back - see all images for condition.
Dimensions: 5 9/16" high x 4 1/2" wide x 1/2" thick
An overall good example of a rare little book which would be a great addition to any library.
