Cycling Around Dublin - Jim Brady
New unmarked Signed First Edition of this humourous look at the Capital over the years.
Jim Brady is a ninth generation Dubliner
To familiarise himself with his beloved City, he decided to undertake pre-planned daily journeys on his sisters old bicycle during a severe winter with only a few slices of bread and milk, plus a pencil and small notebook to record his observations along the way.
This account has accurately described in great detail a large number of outstanding characters whom he was fortunate to encounter during his ramblings including Bang Bang, the most famous of them all, the "Lady" street traders in Thomas Street, road sweepers, tradesmen, shopkeepers and odd individuals he mixed with in some of Dublin's most historical and famous pubs as he toured around the main roads and ancient back streets where much has disappeared forever due to re-development.
Hiis narrative is a most enjoyable document, for it has splendidly captured and voiced the image, wit, spirit and character of a very unique city, and has recorded a vast amount of historical information in a brilliant and hilarious down-to-earth prose,
