Book The Singing Flame by Ernie O'Malley
Out of print book The Singing Flame by Ernie O’Malley about the Irish Civil War. This edition printed in 1992 by Anvil Books Limited. Ernie O’Malley became the IRA Assistant Chief of Staff and the OC of Leinster and Ulster during the Irish Civil War in 1922. Ernie O’Malley was the last Republican leader to be released from imprisonment in 1924.
A sequel to his book On Another Man’s Wound about the Irish War of Independence, this is O’Malley’s account of his experiences of the Civil War that followed. There are many memoirs for the War of Independence but very few for the Irish Civil War period – this is one of them. The Irish Independent called this book ‘a work of great historical importance.’
Ernie O’Malley had reported directly to Michael Collins and Richard Mulcahy during the Irish War of Independence where he became Officer Commanding of the Second Southern Division. During the Irish Civil War O’Malley was in the Four Courts when it was attacked by the Free State army. He was eventually captured and imprisoned. He died in 1957 and was given a full state funeral.
This book is in excellent condition without any marks, no tears, bent pages or dog-ears and appears unread because the spine is still tight (I certainly have never had time to read it).
Although we prefer collection (in the Christ Church area of Dublin, in which case you will need to PM us your phone number to make for easy collection), it can be posted out as well. Extra postage charges would apply.
Please note that I do not use a smart phone. My replies might be delayed because I only check the Internet once or twice a day.
