YOUNG FARMERS CLUB (Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire) - enamelled membership badge (1950's)
Postage is extra.
For sale is a vintage membership badge issued by the National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs (NFYFC) for their Isle of Ely club. This badge shows the 1930's Young Farmers Clubs emblem of a horse and plough with sunbeams.
The NFYFC remain the largest rural youth organisation in England and Wales and are still active today.
The first Young Farmers' Club opened in 1921 at Hemyock in Devon and many more were established and in 1932 they came together to form the NFYFC, with a common desire to foster an interest in agriculture and a sense of community amongst young people from rural and farming backgrounds. This was done by the establishment of YFC social clubs, providing education in farming and encouraging greater proficiency amongst young farmers through competitions.
