For sale is a WW2 CIVIL DEFENCE SERVICES badge that would have been worn by a Warden when in civilian clothes. Such a badge would have been worn in the buttonhole of the jacket. This badge is exceptionally fine condition.

The Civil Defence Services (CD) were formed in 1941 from an amalgamation of the various local authority civil defence organisations that existed in the boroughs throughout Britain, such as the ARP, Rescue Parties, Fire Guards, Medical Services, etc. The CD continued to be staffed by volunteers throughout the duration of the war until formally disbanded on the 2nd May 1945.
