This fine badge was issued by the Worcestershire County Council to its employees and/or volunteer workers involved in providing a range of home-help services to elderly people within the county. The badge design is adapted from the Worcester coat-of-arms that was granted in 1947 and shows a tree bearing the famous Worcester black pears. The Worcestershire County Council was superseded by the Hereford & Worcester County Council in 1974.
DESCRIPTION:
Size: 1 1/8" x 1 5/16" (28mm x 34mm).
Material(s): Brass with four vitreous enamels.
Finish: Gilt plated.
Fitting: Pin.
Imprint: None.
Approximate age: 1950's - 1970's.
CONDITION:
A very good condition metal and enamel badge. No damage, pin tight and in good working order.
