For sale is a very finely-made enamel badge of the WALLINGTON COUNTY SCHOOL FOR GIRLS in Surrey.

This design of school badge was introduced in 1931 and incorporates the chequer-board pattern adopted from the old Surrey coat-of-arms along with a pair of conjoined wings from the Seymour family crest. Lord Victor Seymour (1859-1935) was one of the school’s founders. It is likely this same design of badge remained in use with the school until the 1960’s.

The Wallington County School for Girls was established in 1888 and in 1965 was renamed the Wallington High School for Girls. Today, the school remains a selective grammar school and is twined with the Wallington County Grammar School for Boys. In 1965, the school moved to a new purpose-built premises at Woodcote Road where they still are located and it is likely the colour scheme of the badges was changed about then.
