This charming art glass vase was made in Angus, Scotland's Kirkbuddo Glass Studio by sculptor and engraver, Bruce Walker. Trained at Aberdeen Technical College and Grey's School of Art, Walker is known for his skills in stone carving, particularly in working with motifs form the natural world. His pieces are held in private collections in the UK and abroad and include numerous public installations.
This charming piece is titled "Capercaillie", and features the famous bird. The vase has a stout little shape and can be used as a little keepsake or bud vase.
In very good vintage condition with no scratches, chips or repairs. It stands just under 9.5 cm tall and the foot measures 8.5 cm in diameter. Snapped Pontil.
The base is signed : "Kirkbuddo Glass Studio Bruce Walker 1979" along with the title of the piece, "Capercaillie".
This pretty piece would be a great addition to an art glass collection or works well as a stand alone decorative accent. A very sweet and appealing vintage find.
