Chemkefa (Chemisch Keramische Fabriek) was founded by former Sphinx employee Leendert Zwikker after Sphinx stopped producing decorative earthenware. The company specialized in blue-and-white transfer-printed Dutch scenes, especially wall plates and chargers. Sources place production beginning around 1969–1973 and many similar pieces date from the 1970s.

The crown mark with the Z inside is associated with Zwikker, and collectors have identified the surrounding letters as references to Berg en Terblijt, where the factory operated
