For sale is an authentic, original formation flash for the Irish Army Western Command (formerly the 4th Brigade).
​This patch features the iconic "Armed Hand of Connacht" holding a sword, embroidered in gold and silver on a traditional blue shield background. This specific version was the standard dress/service issue for units headquartered at Custume Barracks, Athlone, prior to the 2012 military reorganization.
​Unit: Western Command / 4th Brigade (Disbanded/Reorganized 2012).
​Significance: A historical piece of Irish military insignia representing the Western region.
​Condition: Excellent, vibrant embroidery with clean edges.

@BillyBob77 Apologies for the confusion. You're right, this isn't the ARW 'Fianóglach' wing that has the paratrooper wing behind it. This is actually the Western Command (4th Brigade) Formation Flash from before the 2012 reorganization. It uses the Connacht 'Armed Hand' on the blue shield. My mistake on the unit name, but it is an authentic Irish Defence Forces command patch. Thank you for your help

No its not. The Army Ranger is different with the "Fianlogach" tab worn on top. The ARW wing flash looks nothing like this and is mostly Black and yellow and some red. Do due diligence. https://www.military.ie/en/who-we-are/army/arw/about-the-arw/

@BillyBob77 Hi there, thanks for your question. This patch is the elite Special Forces unit of the Irish Defence Forces. While the Western Command (4th Brigade) was based in Athlone, this specific patch is the distinct "Ranger" qualification or unit flash. I hope this clears up the likeness
