Vintage Framed Real Butterfly Collection With 8 Labelled Specimens
Striking vintage natural-history display containing eight genuine mounted butterfly specimens from Peru and Colombia, each individually identified with its scientific name and country of origin.
These are real three-dimensional specimens rather than prints, beautifully arranged behind glass against a neutral woven backing and presented in a deep wooden display frame.
The large lilac Morpho forms an impressive centrepiece, surrounded by long-tailed, patterned, white, yellow and iridescent blue butterflies. The balanced arrangement gives the piece the wonderful character of an old museum collection or cabinet of curiosities.
The original labels read:
• Morpho Anaxibia – Peru
• Anteos Menippe – Colombia
• Ascia Buneae – Peru
• Callicore Aegina – Peru
• Euritides Protesilaus – Peru
• Graphium Serville – Colombia
• Ancyluris Meliboeus – Peru
• Mesosamia Ulrica – Peru
External frame measurements are approximately 45.5 cm high × 25.5 cm wide.
Presented in genuine vintage condition, with natural age-related wear, fading and minor imperfections to some of the extremely delicate specimens. These details are visible in the close-up photographs and add to the character of the collection.
A distinctive decorative piece for an entomology collector, natural-history enthusiast or anyone searching for unusual statement wall art.
Collection preferred due to the glass and delicate nature of the specimens.
Not simply a picture of butterflies, but an entire miniature natural-history collection preserved within one frame.
