Vigzol 5-gallon Motor Oil Can. London, C.1930s/40s

Vigzol 5-gallon Motor Oil Can. London, C.1930s/40s Vigzol 5-gallon Motor Oil Can. London, C.1930s/40s Other Antiques & Collectables

The Vigzol Refining Company set up in 1919, West Lancashire, post-war Britain, a country that ran on industry and needed its engines to follow. This is one of their five-gallon conical-top drums, the kind that sat in garages, farm sheds, and service bays across the country. Heavy. Purposeful. Built to last longer than the vehicles it served.
The graphics are still here. Orange and navy. The diamond logo. A lone figure mid-stride across the body, a detail you’d miss on a lesser can. London SE10 stamped at the base. The dome has earned its patina. The body hasn’t. Cap absent.
This is over 80 years of honest wear on something that was never meant to be decorative and ended up being exactly that. No dents. Dry and structurally sound.
