Victorian Oak & Leather Shotgun Case - Trulock Brothers, Dublin (c. 1890s)
Rare Antique Irish Leather & Oak Fitted Shotgun "Motor" Case by Trulock Brothers, 13 Parliament Street, Dublin.
Maker: Trulock Brothers (famous 19th-century Dublin gunmakers). Original trade paper label intact inside the lid referencing their 13 Parliament Street address, Safety Hammerless Gun, and Lockfast patents.
Construction: Heavy oak frame bound in thick cowhide leather with solid brass reinforced corners and steel center lock.
Interior: Original crimson felt/baize lining. Features a removable upper tray with a slotted compartment underneath (designed for cartridges).
Straps: One original outer leather hold-down straps and buckle is attached.
Condition (As Is):
Needs restoration. The exterior leather shows heavy wear, dryness, and historic surface loss from old tape/labels.
The inner paper label is worn with central loss but the maker name and Dublin address are clearly readable.
Interior dividers/baize show age-related wear, dust, and loose partition edges.
Locks/latches are untested for keys; outer leather strap is dry/fragile.
A fantastic, genuine piece of 19th-century Dublin maritime/sporting history. Perfect restoration project for a vintage sporting enthusiast, antique dealer, or upcycler.
