Victorian cream pot
This is a vintage Wigtownshire Creameries (Stranraer) transfers-printed stoneware cream pot.
Age: Circa 1890s – 1920s (late Victorian to early 20th century). These pottery jars were mass-produced by Scottish and English potteries (such as Buchan Portobello or Pearson & Co.) to hold fresh cream and butter before glass and paper cartons replaced them in the 1930s. It's approximately 5 inches high and would be a nice display piece in any kitchen. Small chip on neck of pot as these pots were buried in Victorian land fills which adds to their charm.
