For sale is a vintage enamel badge issued by the United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of Dancing (UKA). This badge was originally awarded for passing a proficiency exam in Amateur Ballroom Dancing and would have accompanied the certificate. The UKA issued different badges in this series for each dance style examination.
The UKA was established in 1902 and provides training in a range of dance styles, with examination syllabi for students and training courses for people wishing to become certified dance teachers. Today the UKA are known as UKA Dance.

DESCRIPTION:
Size: about 7/8" x 1 1/18" (22mm x 28mm).
Material(s): brass metal with 4 vitreous enamels.
Finish: tin wash (very thin tin plating).
Fitting: pin.
Imprint: H. W. MILLER LTD. BRANSTON ST B'HAM 18
Approximate age: 1950's
CONDITION:
Very good condition. No damage. Pin in working order. Some wear to the tin wash as expected with badges of this age. Minor discolouration of the white enamel.
