For sale are two St. Christopher medals showing him with staff and carrying the infant Jesus on his shoulder. His medals are traditionally worn as a talisman for a safe journey. The reverse side of the smaller round medal reads BEHOLD ST. CHRISTOPHER THEN GO THY WAY IN SAFETY.
St. Christopher lived in the 3rd or 4th centuries and the legend is that he provided safe passage across a river to travellers by carrying them across. One day he carried across a child who was revealed as Jesus Christ. St. Christopher is venerated by several Christian denominations.

Size (larger medal excluding the bale): about 1 1/8" x 1 5/16" (28mm x 34mm).
Material(s): both of brass metal.
Finish: larger medal has a silver-coloured plating.
Fitting: bale/hole to take a suspension ring.

Larger medal: 1960s/1970s?
Smaller medal: 1960s or earlier.
CONDITION:
Both very good condition. No damage.
