TREX CLUB (PRIZE WINNER) - a vintage children's club prize badge (1950's)

.
For sale is a vintage TREX CLUB PRIZE WINNER badge dating to the 1950's. These badges were awarded along with a prize to members of the children's Trex Club after they had filled one of the Trex Card albums.
One of the offerings of this club were their albums that club members had to fill with the special Trex cards. These album cards were all of an educational nature and each album held up to 25 cards. The Berwick Advertiser of the 7th April 1955 had this to say on collecting the Trex cards:
"....to get a prize in the Trex Club you have to fill an album full of cards. The cards are obtained by saving up pieces of jigsaw puzzles, which are on the Trex boxes and when you complete the puzzle, you send it away and get in return five cards for your album. In this way, you fill the album and prizes are awarded when the album is full." Winners could select from an iullustrated catalogue of prizes and such prize items were generally of high quality and functional.
The Trex Club was open to boys and girls up to 16 years of age and to joining was by completing a coupon from a Trex carton and sending it off. Each new club member received their membership pack that included the membership badge (similar to the one above), a certificate, club rules. a prize catalogue and other information.
The standard Trex Club membership badge was a blue lozenge-shaped plastic badge of similar design, but without the additional "Prize Winner" attachment.
TREX is a white vegetable fat used mainly in baking and is still sold. Back then it was made by J. Bibby & Sons Ltd of Liverpool, who also ran the Trex Club. The Trex brand is now owned by Princes Ltd and is still made in Liverpool.
