Sword Bayonet French 1869
Bayonet. French February 1869. Rare Bayonet in good condition for the age. Model 1866 Chassepot rifle bayonet. Good straight blade. Quality steel. Good sharp edge. Has seen some action. No rust or pitting to blade. Mounting spring clip work's freely. Nice clear script to back of blade. Rare Alsace Armoury manufacture. Blade marked Stehelin & Co. @ Bitschwiller de Thainn. Only in production for 2 - 3 years at this location. Would have seen service in the 1870/71 Franco Prussian war and most likely WW1. See photos for details.
