Very rare Congolese Shi bashi pitcher
Shi (also known as Bashi) people, an ethnic group living in the eastern highlands of the Kivu region in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Traditionally, these wooden vessels served a practical and social purpose, used for serving local wine or beer, as well as ceremonial or ritual drinks.
They are characterized by a carved human face on the body of the vessel, , which may represent ancestors or important cultural figures.
