The Sheaffer Crest 581 from the 1995 Color Palette line. While the "Crest" designation traditionally referred to pens with gold-filled caps and plastic barrels, this modern metal version features the "Nova" pattern and pays tribute to the 1950s Snorkel models. As part of a sixteen-finish collection spanning several Sheaffer ranges, these Crest pens represent the premier models of that series.

This pen is crafted in the Flame Red “Nova” pattern, created with over twenty-three layers of lacquer and hand decoration. It features a 23-karat gold electroplated cap band inscribed with “Sheaffer”, “U.S.A.”, and “Gold Electroplate”.
