For sale is a pair of enamelled badges issued by the Scottish Dance Teachers Alliance (SDTA). The SDTA were established in 1934 and continue to offer instruction in many dance genres as well as organising competitions, qualifications and awards. The SDTA also set standards and offer advice to dance teachers.

Each of these qualifying badges would have originally been awarded along with their certificates for achieving a basic level of proficiency in examinations for the IRISH JIG and the SAILOR'S HORNPIPE dance genres.
