For sale is a WW2 period 'sweetheart' badge showing the Royal Corps of Signals regimental badge. This badge features an image of Mercury, the winged messenger of the Gods and the Signal’s motto 'Certa Cito' (Swift and Sure).

The Royal Corps of Signals(commonly known as The Signals) were established in 1920 and continue to be a support unit of the British Army. The Signals’ main functions are to provide a full telecommunications infrastructure and information systems technology for the British Army, wherever they operate in the world. These days, the Signals also provide and maintain defence systems against cyber and nuclear attack.

Sweethearts were unofficial and privately made badges for public sale. These would usually be purchased by members of the armed forces and presented to their ‘loved’ ones as a keepsake while away on active service. Sweetheart badges first became popular during WW1 and again during WW2.
