For sale is a vintage tie-pin enamel badge issued by the South African Road Operators Safety Council (ROSCO). The ROSCO was an organisation that ran courses mainly for commercial and haulier drivers to improve standards of driving with the aim of reducing accidents on the road. A badge such as this one would likely have been issued to a commercial driver who had successfully completed a training course. The badge would originally have been issued with a certificate to the driver and their company.

The red triangle is an emblem used by road safety training organisations and the leaping antelope an emblem of South Africa. This badge is bilingual, English and Afrikaans.

DESCRIPTION:
Size: about 3/4" diameter (19mm). 1 /58" (41mm) length with the pin.
Material(s): Brass metal with 2 vitreous enamels.
Finish: Gilt.
Fitting: Tie-pin.
Imprint: None.
Approximate age: 1950's to mid-1960's.

CONDITION:
Very good condition, no damage, enamels intact. Pin tight and in good working order.
