Rare Taxidermy Owl by Rohu & Sons Cork

A beautiful, rare piece of Irish natural history: a genuine Victorian/Edwardian taxidermy Barn Owl, originally mounted by the famous "F.R. Rohu & Sons, Naturalists, Cork".

The owl is presented in its original, robust timber and glass display case featuring a wonderfully preserved habitat background with painted sunset sky, wild grasses, and ferns.

Crucially, the original maker's label remains fully intact and clear on the rear: "Mounted by Rohu & Sons, Naturalists (1st Prize Medalists), Cork." Rohu & Sons are highly sought after by taxidermy and Irish antique collectors due to their historical importance in Munster.

The casing, glass, and specimen are in great antique condition. The bird shows beautiful feather coloring and minimal signs of its considerable age. No modern restorations

There is a very small crack in the glass at the top left but it is very hard to notice
