Printed on thick art paper, with illustrated/graphical section headings + 2 page intro. 16 translated selections of Talmud (Proverbs, Brachot, Shabbat, Pesachim, Yoma, Rosh HaShana, Ta'anit, Yevamot, Ketubot, Gittin, Kiddushin, Baba Kama, Baba Metzia, Baba Batra, Sanhedrin, Avoda Zara).
Budko (1888-1940) was famous Jewish-Polish artist who created etchings, engravings & woodcuts. Favorite student of Jewish artist Hermann Struck, director of Bezalel art school 1934-40. Fromer (1865-1938) was Jewish-Polish semanticist & librarian of Berlin Jewish Community who published anti-Semitic article (1904) identifying Judaism's character as source of anti-Semitism & called for its self-destruction. Recognized as an authority on Talmud, this work is said to reflect his ongoing struggle to reconcile his western identity with his traditional background.
In good vintage condition. This is written in German. Yellowing on the pages and one small tear on the front illustration page. Some rubbing and wear marks on the corners of the hard cover from age and use. Please see pictures for condition.
