Rare Ancient Roman & Byzantine Bronze Collection - 2 Signet Rings & 2 Coins (4-Piece Lot)

Selling a highly cohesive, fascinating small collection of authentic ancient bronze antiquities and coins. All 4 pieces belong to the same historical timeframe, spanning the Late Roman to Early Byzantine eras (c. 3rd – 7th Century AD).

I purchased these items together here in Ireland and I am now looking to pass them on to another history enthusiast, or ancient art lover as a single lot.

The Lot Includes:

1. Two Ancient Bronze Signet Rings (Late Roman / Early Byzantine, c. 3rd-5th Century AD):
• Ring 1: Features a sharp, hand-engraved oval bezel depicting a classical military figure (likely Mars or Virtus) holding a vertical spear/sceptre. Features unique decorative nodes on the shoulders and a faceted polygonal band.
• Ring 2: Showcases an intricate engraving of a seated/throned figure (Imperial or Religious iconography) with unique stylized character/monogram markings at the base of the bezel.
• Both rings are in excellent structural condition, untouched, uncleaned, and they retain a stunning, authentic green/brown desert-river patina.

2. 3rd Century Roman Imperial Bronze Coin:
• An authentic Roman Antoninianus (c. 260-275 AD). The obverse clearly shows the profile of a Roman Emperor wearing the iconic radiate crown (symbol of Sol Invictus). A great contextual piece that matches the era of the rings.

3. 6th-7th Century Byzantine Bronze Follis:
• A large, heavy ancient bronze coin featuring the famous, highly prominent "M" denomination mark on the reverse (representing 40 Nummi). Minted during the Golden Age of the Early Byzantine Empire (Era of Emperor Justinian). It shows the typical rustic, asymmetric flan cut from the ancient mint.

Condition: All 4 pieces are in an uncleaned, completely authentic state with natural centuries-old ground aging, preserving their historical identity perfectly.
