For sale is a RAOB KOM (Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes - Knight Order of Merit) silver gilt badge depicting the KOM monogram. Worn only by Knight of Merit (MOH) 3rd Degree members, this badge would have been part of the regalia and also attached to the red ribbon of their medal jewels.
The RAOB is the largest Fraternal Society in Britain and had four levels of membership. From the lowest to the highest are:
1st Degree (Kangaroo - ordinary membership).
2nd Degree (Certified Primo - head of a lodge).
3rd Degree (Knight Order of Merit, KOM).
4th Degree (Roll of Honor, RoH).

DESCRIPTION:
Size: about 27/32" x 1" (21mm x 25mm).
Material(s): sterling .925 silver with 3 vitreous enamels.
Finish: gilt.
Fitting: 2 small loops to take a split-pin.
Imprint: hallmarked with a lion symbol only to indicate the metal is sterling silver.
Weight (excluding transit packaging): about 3.5g (without its split-pin).
Approximate age: 1930's to 1950's.
CONDITION:
Excellent condition with full gilt. No damage. Split-pin in working order. Badge actually looks better than in the above photos.
