For sale is a scarce badge issued for the QUALITY ASSURANCE DIRECTORATE OF WEAPONS. The QA Directorate of Weapons was a technical department of the British Army that had operated since Second World War (1939-1945). The RAF and the Royal Navy also had their own equivalent QA departments.

The QA Directorate had responsibility for the non-destructive testing of weapons, approved specialist contractors, supervised relevant QA record keeping and document control, assessed new techniques and investigated failures. Today, the roles of the QA Directorate have been reduced to specialist contractor approval, overseeing the quality assurance work and delegated inspections that have been out-sourced.
