For sale is a resident camper's badge issued by the PONTINS HOLIDAYS to paid-up visitors at their holiday park in Southport, Lancashire. Pontins issued similar badges but having different names for their other sites.

Fred Pontin (1906-2000) opened his first holiday park in 1946 modelled on the Butlins styled holiday camps but Pontins holiday parks were set up to be smaller in size and with less expensive rates. Pontins had their Bluecoats to entertain guests, as opposed to the Butlin's Redcoats.At it peak, Pontins had 36 sites and today have 6 holiday parks along the English coast. Since 2011, Pontins have been owned by the Britannia Hotel Group.

DESCRIPTION:
Size: about 7/8" x 5/8" (22mm x 16mm).
Material(s): brass metal with 2 enamels.
Finish: gilt.
Fitting: pin.
Imprint: W. J. DINGLEY TROPHIES & MEDALS BIRMINGHAM
Approximate age: 1960's to 1970's.

CONDITION:
Very good condition. No damage. Pin in working order. Some minor wear to gilt on high-point surfaces (front side only).
