Commenly constructed from beech wood.
While used for maintaining shoe shape, these tools were historically also used to hold socks in place while repairing them
Think the wooden part meant for left shoe is slightly a bit smaller as for the right hand side one.
The spring for right hand side shoe has a bit of rust, would think common for the age of them.
