Original vintage British glass battery jar
Original vintage British glass battery jar, believed to date from the 1930s–1950s.
These heavy glass containers were originally used in early lead-acid batteries, holding sulphuric acid electrolyte. Such batteries were used to power household radios, lighting systems and other electrical equipment before modern sealed batteries became commonplace.
Made from thick, pale green-tinted moulded glass, with the original embossed “ACID LEVEL” marking indicating the correct electrolyte level and “MADE IN BRITAIN” stamped underneath.
Approximately 19.5 cm tall.
Perfect condition – no chips, cracks or damage.
An unusual and increasingly collectible example of early British electrical and industrial history. Ideal for collectors of vintage technology, industrial antiques and historic glassware, or as a decorative display piece.
