An exceptional matching pair of original signed oil paintings by respected Northern Irish landscape artist Robert B. Higgins (born 1943), depicting two beautiful views within the Mount Stewart Estate, County Down.

Both paintings are professionally framed in their original matching gilt frames with linen slips and retain the original Higgins Gallery & Studio stamp on the reverse, confirming they were sold through the artist’s own gallery.

One painting is inscribed on the reverse by the artist:

“The Glen, Mount Stewart Estate, Co. Down”

along with the original purchaser’s details from Newtownards, providing excellent provenance and firmly dating the pair to 1996.

The companion painting depicts another tranquil view from the Mount Stewart Estate, featuring the estate entrance and surrounding parkland. Together they form a beautifully balanced pair intended to be displayed side by side.

Robert B. Higgins is one of Northern Ireland’s best-known contemporary landscape painters. Born in County Down in 1943, he has enjoyed a long professional career painting the landscapes of Ulster, Donegal, Connemara and the Irish countryside. He was commissioned by Belleek Pottery to paint The Four Seasons collector’s plate series and also completed the major commemorative painting for the 25th Anniversary of the Game Fair.
