A beautiful original gouache on paper by acclaimed Northern Irish botanical artist Elizabeth A. McEwen RUA (1937–2020).

McEwen was a Senior Academician of the Royal Ulster Academy, an award-winning botanical artist, and a member of the Society of Botanical Artists. Her work is represented in public and private collections, and she was widely recognised for her exceptional studies of flowers and plants.

This finely executed composition depicts a magnificent white dahlia against a deep charcoal background, demonstrating McEwen’s trademark precision, subtle tonal modelling and outstanding botanical accuracy.

The work is signed lower right: “E.A. McEwen” and is presented in an elegant gilt frame. The reverse carries the original label of The Framing Centre, Jubilee Mews, Broughshane, dated 2000, indicating it was professionally framed at that time.
