Southdown Motor Services Ltd was established in 1915 and operated bus and coach services in the southern England, mainly in East and West Sussex and parts of Hampshire. In 1969, Southdown was purchased by the National Bus Company and which in turn was purchased by the Stagecoach Group in 1989.

This badge features the National Bus Company’s ‘double N’ arrow logo and its regional bus company name. The red and blue ‘double N’ logo was introduced in 1978. Southdown was privatised in 1987 and it’s likely by this time, the ‘double N’ logo had been phased out.
