For sale is a scarce and vintage membership enamel badge of the NATIONAL ACCORDION ORGANISATION (NAO).

The NAO first met in 1935 but disbanded in 1939 due to the outbreak of WW2. They resumed activities in 1949 with a new constitution and formal meetings. In 1987, the NAO changed its name to become The National Accordion Organisation of the United Kingdom so as to include competitors from Northern Ireland. The NAO organises annual festivals and competitions for accordionists from all over the UK and is affiliated to the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (founded Paris 1935).

The NAO's stated aims are:
"We exist to support accordion players young and old and all lovers of the instrument. We promote the accordion in the UK and worldwide ... Holds national competitions throughout the year, culminating in the UK Accordion Championships in the Spring. We celebrate the accordion and its players around the United Kingdom and Internationally in all styles and levels and welcome entries from all over the world."

Size: about 3/4" x 1" (19mm x 25mm).
Material(s): brass metal with 2 vitreous enamels.
Finish: gilt.
Fitting: pin.

Approximate age: 1950's to early 1960's.

CONDITION:
Very good condition. No damage. Pin in working order. Some light staining in the white enamel.
