For sale is a scarce antique membership badge of the Institution of Automobile Engineers (IAE). The IAE was a professional association of car and mechanical engineers concerned with research into the development and improvement of engines and car design. The IAE was established in 1906 and had their research facilities at Cheswick in Gloucestershire. The IAE was amalgamated with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in 1946 to become their automobile division.

DESCRIPTION:
Size: about 11/16" diameter (18mm).
Material(s): brass metal with 1 vitreous enamel.
Finish: gilt.
Fitting: buttonhole fitting (horseshoe shaped clasp).
Imprint: THOMAS FATTORINI BIRMINGHAM LTD
Approximate age: c.1922 (1922-1923).
CONDITION:
Good condition. Wear to gilt plating commensurate with age and use.
